The Swimming Pool and Spa Association (SPSA) offers an approved challenge course that allows individuals to obtain a Pool Operator's Certificate for the Northern Virginia area. Thousands of individuals have used our challenge exam program to get their PO permit to operate a public swimming pool in the Northern Virginia area.
We offer the exam year-round in a group testing setting on selected Saturdays in Fairfax County Virginia. Listed below are the location, dates, and times we offer it to the general public. Besides, coming to us to take the final proctored exam, it may be possible to arrange for your employer, swim coach, or parent to proctor the exam for you. If this is something, you would like to arrange; we ask that you email us at firstname.lastname@example.org after you have registered. Just request information on how this can be accomplished to take the exam when it is most convenient to your busy schedule.
In addition, your employer may obtain an authorized provider agreement with SPSA to provide the program for their staff at a discounted price. Because of this, you may want to check with your employer to see if this option is available to you before you register with us. For further information regarding this opportunity have your company contact us.
Upon successful completion of the exam a three-year Swimming Pool Operator's certificate will be issued by Swimming Pool and Spa Association, at no additional cost, and is accepted by many Northern Virginia jurisdictions, which include the City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, Falls Church, Fairfax City, Loudoun County, and Prince William County. These jurisdictions combined have over 1,200 public swimming pools.
Advance registration and payment is necessary to take the exam. The exam is a timed 50-question multiple-choice test that candidates may take up to one hour to complete. Candidates must pass with a grade of 80 or higher to get their PO certificate. The exam is offered only in English, and it is to be taken closed book, with no access or reference to student notes, manuals or language dictionaries. Upon successful completion of the exam, candidates will receive a temporary PO certificate by email the very same day, and their results will be listed online with the Universal Certificate site at Universal Certification, so employers and health departments may verify the validity of the certification. How to schedule your exam session once you have made payment
You need to go to http://www.supersaas.com/schedule/SPSA . This site allows you to register your exam session. Once on the home pages, you need to sign in and create your new username and password. At the beginning, it will prompt you for a password, which will be sent to you once you register and make payment. In addition, you may review an online Swimming Pool Operators manual, which has additional information and is a great reference guide with the following website at Pool's Operator's Handbook.
Swimming Pool Operators are essential for helping to keep aquatic facilities safe. Unlike most other professionals, operators are present at all times the pool is open to ensure the swimming pool facility is meeting the county or city swimming pool codes. It is recommended that each candidate should have a copy of the operational codes for the jurisdiction they will be working.
The Swimming Pool and Spa Association suggest that all employers test each candidate they plan to hire to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to properly operate their swimming pool. The employer should also further their staff's training through in-service programs to help increase their ability levels. In addition, at any time during employment, a staff member should be able to demonstrate his or her knowledge and ability to safely operate their swimming pool. Because of this, it is important, even after you successfully pass our exam that you continue to stay current on the latest information to properly operate your pool.
If you have any questions that we may answer, please email us at email@example.com. We monitor incoming emails 24/7 and typically respond to inquiries within just a few minutes.
